The Namaste Comfort Fund is a Colorado Nonprofit Corporation which was founded by hospice healthcare professionals in 1998. For the past 13 years, we have been dedicated to helping ease life's burdens in the final stages of life.
We have no paid staff presently and are run by our Board of Directors, who volunteer their time and skills to further the mission of the organization.
While the Denver
Metro area is rich in health and human service organizations, many items and services requested by people with serious, life-limiting illness are
not covered by the
specific parameters of acute, chronic, or terminal care providers or other community programs nor by public or private health insurance. Namaste Comfort Fund seeks to fill this gap and perform small miracles in
difficult times.
Sometimes our assistance
is of a practical nature:
The Comfort Fund paid for the installation of a wheelchair ramp so a patient with ALS could spend time in his garden as he wished.
The Comfort Fund purchased new pajamas
for a patient whose disease had stripped 75 pounds from her frame.
Sometimes
we fulfill small dreams:
The Comfort Fund purchased Colorado Rockies baseball tickets for an entire family to attend their loved one's favorite pastime with him and provide a night's reprieve from his several month battle with cancer.
The Comfort Fund purchased airline tickets for a patient’s family to travel to his bedside for an important time of
reconciliation just before he died.
Sometimes we make all the difference in
the world:
The Comfort Fund obtained an oxygen compressor for a patient to take with
her to Mexico so she could die surrounded by her family members.
The Comfort Fund paid for a dream trip to California for a man with terminal cancer so he could marry his bride on a beach surrounded by his friends and family.
